1st IUVSTA Summer School on

QUANTUM DEVICES AND NANOSTRUCTURES

The School took place in Cortona, Tuscany, Italy, on July 18-24, 1999.

SCOPE

The Electronic-Materials and Processing and Nanostructures Divisions of the International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique, and Applications are sponsoring the 1st IUVSTA Summer School on Quantum Devices and Nanostructures. The intent is to give tutorial lectures on fundamentals of nanometer-scale science and technology with a special emphasis on quantum devices. The school is intended for graduate students, post-doctoral scientists, and young faculty members at the early stages of their career. Topics will include quantum structures and devices considering growth methods of specimens, transport and optical properties, chemical-physical evaluation techniques, etc. Both theoretical and experimental aspects will be covered. The intent is to give an overview of this rapidly growing field for young scientists interested in entering this field.
