As of 2017 the society has 81 members, of which
46 are industrial companies, 6 are individual
persons and the others are public organisations.
Every two years a vacuum training course in
German language is organised. Training courses
in French language seem not to find sufficient
participants and had to be cancelled more
often than not. Occasionally other courses, for
example in the field of leak detection, have been
organised.
The Society established a Swiss Vacuum Prize in
2014. It honors an excellent bachelor or master
thesis in a vacuum related field.
Since its participation as a founding member of
IUVSTA, members of the Swiss Vacuum Society
have been represented amongst the Officers
of the Union by R. Mercier, J. Hengevoss and
H. Wahl, all as Treasurers. As well as being
represented on the Executive Council of the
Union and on its various committees, the Soci-
ety also has nominated representatives in all of
the Scientific Divisions. The Society has hosted
Executive Council meetings on three occasions,
namely ECM-45 in Vaduz (Liechtenstein) in
1983, ECM-83 in Saillon (1999, Switzerland) and
ECM-101 in Basel (2007). In 2018 the Society
organised the 15
th
European Vacuum Confer-
ence in Geneva.
