Jiandong Guo is now a professor in the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He graduated from the institute in 2001 and worked 4 years in University of Tennessee, US as a postdoctoral research associate before joining the institute in 2005 as a research staff. He has been serving as the director of the State Key Laboratory for Surface Physics, the chairman of the Committee of Surface and Interface Physics, Chinese Physics Society, and the chair of Department of Physics, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests include the design and growth of low-dimensional oxide structure, collective excitations of the surfaces/interfaces of complex materials, and quantum effects in low-dimensional metals.
