Professor Papken Hovsepian heads the Thin Films Research Group at the National HIPIMS Technology Centre at Sheffield Hallam University in UK.

His major field of endeavour is fundamental research and development of industrial technologies for deposition of nanoscale multilayer/superlattice structured PVD coatings for applications in aerospace, automotive, biomedical, advanced manufacturing and other industries. He is a worldwide recognised expert in various plasma based coating deposition techniques such as Magnetron Sputtering, Cathodic Arc Evaporation and High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering, HIPIMS.
