Elad Gross

Elad Gross received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel) in 2003 and 2011, respectively. In 2012, he joined the group of Prof. Gabor A. Somorjai (UC Berkeley) as a postdoctoral researcher. He was appointed, in 2014, a Senior Lecturer, and since 2020 he is an Associate Professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he leads the Surface Chemistry and Catalysis Group in the Institute of Chemistry. Elad received several awards, including an ERC starting grant, the Wolf Foundation’s Krill award and the Excellent Young Scientist award from the Israel Vacuum Society.

Main research topic

Elad Gross research group is focused on understanding the surface chemistry of catalytic nanomaterials and thin layers, specifically by using operando IR nano-spectroscopy for high spatial resolution imaging and X-ray absorption measurements. In addition, his group is interested in the development and analysis of carbene-based monolayers and their utilization for corrosion mitigation and in molecular electronics.
