demonstration of the vacuum experiments and
technologies. Among other things, the DVTS
regularly organizes excursions to companies and
research institutions, in Slovenia and abroad,
that are engaged with vacuum techniques and
research.
DVTS plays an active role in the IUVSTA
organization. It the past two decades it hosted
four Executive Council Meetings: ECM 73
(Brdo, 1995), ECM 86 in (Portorož, 2000), ECM
112 (Piran, 2011) and ECM 125 (Rogla, 2017), all
in Slovenia. One of the largest events organized
by DVTS in the last years was organization
of the 14
th
European Vacuum Conference
EVC-14 together with the 16
th
Joint Vacuum
Conference JVC-16. The conference was
organized June 2016 in Portorož, Slovenia. In the
past, three other JVC conferences were organized
in Slovenia: JVC-4 (Portorož, 1988), JVC-6 (Bled,
1995) and JVC-10 (Portorož, 2004). Every other
year since 1993 DVTS has organized bilateral
meetings with Croatian Vacuum Society (HVD). In
2013 DVTS was involved in a consortium of nine
national vacuum societies organizing the Vacuum
Congress IVC-19. In 2014 DVTS participated in
the organization of International Conference on
Thin Films – ICTF 16 in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where
the principle organizer was the Croatian vacuum
society (HVD).
DVTS also organized the six IUVSTA sponsored
workshops: 10
th
IUVSTA Workshop, Structure
and Reactivity of Small Molecules on Surfaces,
Brdo, Slovenia, 1995; 41
st
IUVSTA Workshop,
Vacuum System Design for Particle Accelerators:
A Multidisciplinary Approach, Brdo, Slovenia,
2004; 62
nd
IUVSTA Workshop, Plasma Synthesis
and Modification on Nanomaterials, Bohinj,
Slovenia, 2010; 69
th
IUVSTAWorkshop, Oxidation
of Organic Materials by Excited Radicals Created
in Non-equilibrium Gaseous Plasma, Cerklje
na Gorenjskem, Slovenia, 2012; 75
th
IUVSTA
Workshop, Sheath Phenomena in Plasma
Processing of Advanced Materials, Cerklje na
Gorenjskem, Slovenia, 2015 and 81
st
IUVSTA
Workshop, Response of Biological Materials to
Plasma Treated Medium, Rogla, Slovenia, 2017.
In the last decade several other vacuum-related
events were organized by DVTS, including a
series of four Conferences on the Advanced
Plasma Technologies (2008–2011), 9
th
EU-Japan
Joint Symposium on Plasma Processing (2014)
and Workshop on Application of Advanced
Plasma Technologies in CE Agriculture (2016).
DVTS has representatives in all IUVSTA Scientific
divisions. The current councillor is Miran Mozetič
and the alternate councillor is Janez Kovač. Miran
Mozetič is also a chair of IUVSTA Committee for
the education.

DVTS organizes education courses related with vacuum
science and vacuum techniques intended for young
researchers and technical staff from industry.
