with 857 coming from France, 359 from
the other organisation partners, 718 from
the rest of Europe (including 237 from
Germany), 194 from Americas (including

scientific committee: astronomical frontiers
for surface science, biointerphases, cultural
heritage, energy and sustainable develop
ment, functional molecules and molecular
machines, frontiers in photoelectron full-
field imaging and spectromicroscopy, ionic
liquid surfaces and interfaces. A general
agreement for publication of proceedings
was arranged with Elsevier but the
organisation of the proceedings was left to
the Chairs of the scientific committees and
a few papers were published in a special
issue of Applied Surface Science. The
Exhibition accompanying this congress,
which was managed by the Director of the
SFV G. Hirel, covered 3,000 square meters
with 110 stands occupied by exhibitors.
8 dedicated industrial sessions were also
organised, during which manufacturers
could present their products. At the
conclusion of the congress the organisation
consortium made a donation of
€
30,000 to
the IUVSTA.
