Prof. Dr. HERNANDO “Jethro” SIY SALAPARE III (born 1984, Philippines) obtained his Ph.D. Physics from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2013 with an exchange doctoral mobility of Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, and Materials Science at the Université de Nice Sophia-Antipolis in Nice, France in 2012. His latest postdoc research for the European Space Agency (ESA) and NICE Lab, Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis, on “Temperature and stress sensor by reflectometry along a cable” was from 2017 to 2019. Salapare is currently a Professorial Lecturer at the University of the Philippines Open University, Air Link International Aviation College, and NICE Learning – IMREDD, Université Côte d’Azur. He is also currently a Doctor of Science (Chemistry) student (2nd PhD) at the Université Côte d’Azur, working on “Bioinspired self-cleaning oleophobic surfaces for car interior environments”.
Salapare is a regular member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas (Physics Society of the Philippines), the Division of Plasma Physics of Association of Asia Pacific Physical Societies (DPP-APPS), and the Vacuum Society of the Philippines (VSP). He is currently serving as an Associate Editor of the Philippine e-Journal for Applied Research and Development (PeJARD) and the Philippine representative to the Surface Science Division (SSD) of the International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications (IUVSTA). He is also the Vice-Chairman of the “Integrating New Societies” Committee of IUVSTA from 2020 to 2023.
