Dr. Ivor Lončarić is research associate (equiv. assistant professor) at Ruđer Bošković Institute. He was born in Karlovac, Croatia on August 8th, 1989. He studied physics at the University of Zagreb from 2008 to 2013. From 2013 to 2017 he was a PhD student at Centro de Física de Materiales (CSIC-UPV/EHU) in San Sebastian, Spain working on dynamics of small molecules on metallic surfaces. He received the University of the Basque Country award for the best PhD theses in 2016/2017. After PhD he moved to Ruđer Bošković Institute where he was a postdoc until 2018. He made several longer and shorter visits to Germany, USA, and China. He supervised several PhD and master students. In 2020 he was awarded National science award by Croatian parliament. He is working in the field of first-principles materials modeling.
