Silvia Maria Deambrosis received her degree com laude in Material Science from the University of Padova, Italy, in 2004. In 2008 she earned her PhD in Material Science and Engineering at the same University. In 2009 she received a second-degree master in Surface Treatments for Industrial Applications at the University of Padova. Since 2010 she works as researcher at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) – Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry and Technologies for Energy (ICMATE; https://www.icmate.cnr.it). She is the Head of Advanced Coatings Research at CNR-ICMATE since 2011
Main research topic
- Synthesis of functional coatings of metals and alloys, nitrides, borides and oxides both single and multilayer, by Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) for applications in nuclear, hydrogen, aerospace, automotive, advanced manufacturing fields. She is an expert in the magnetron sputtering technique (DC, RF, pulsed DC) and in particular in the High-Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HiPIMS) technology in inert and reactive atmospheres.
- Morphological, compositional and microstructural characterization of massive samples and coatings.
- Mechanical, tribological and tribo-chemical analyses of materials.
